News from Bev Neighbour

I was really disappointed not to have made it on the day, but so glad everyone had a great time. I have also enjoyed browsing this blog and "catching up" via some of the postings on here - great job Hazel! These days I am a freelance writer - business markets as opposed to bestsellers though - and I am lucky enough to work from home. En route to this I have been variously an English language assistant in Geneva (immediately after graduation), a software author, a market research executive and a charity administrator. I married John in 1993. Our daughter Livy was born in 1995, and our son Leo born in 1997. Freelancing fits in perfectly with school runs/hols/child taxi service etc and I often describe my life as "having my cake and eating it", except when there's a deadline looming... Then it feels like student days all over again as I burn the midnight oil to hand in my essay, sorry, market report. Plus ca change etc...

News from Maria Jackson

After leaving Birmingham I joined the Bank of England where I had a very brief opportunity to use my French on a business trip to Algeria and Morocco. After 10 years, I then moved into administration in the Language Centre at Royal Holloway, University of London before starting a similar job at King's College. I got married in 2002 and had a little boy (Abed) at the end of 2003. Maria Al-Najar (nee Jackson).
